Why I Love Mangoes in My Post-Workout Smoothies
Mangoes are a post-workout powerhouse! Here’s why I always include them in my recovery smoothies:
- Electrolyte Replenishment: Mangoes are loaded with potassium, which helps restore electrolytes lost through sweat and prevents muscle cramps.
- Antioxidant Boost: Packed with vitamin C and beta-carotene, mangoes combat free radicals from exercise, promoting faster muscle recovery.
- Natural Energy Source: The natural sugars in mangoes are perfect for replenishing glycogen stores, giving your body the energy it needs to recover.
- Anti-Inflammatory Benefits: Mangoes contain compounds that may help reduce post-workout muscle soreness.
- Fiber for Satiety: The fiber in mangoes aids digestion and keeps you feeling satisfied.
I also love how convenient frozen mangoes are—you can grab a big bag of organic frozen mangoes from Costco. They’re perfect for smoothies and save you time on prep!
As for the spinach, the best source is your garden, but Costco also offers large bags of fresh spinach at a great price. I always buy fresh spinach, but when I notice it’s about to expire, I freeze it. This way, I always have spinach on hand for smoothies, and nothing goes to waste!
These ingredients, combined with bananas and protein powder, create a delicious, nutrient-packed smoothie that’s perfect for post-workout recovery.
